    NO, never do that. You might blow the high voltage transformer. Incandescent lamp runs on 120V ac not 9000 volts ac. AND NEVER INSTALL MORE DEVICE NEAR NEON SIGN THAT HAS 9000 VOLTS.

    You should run a separate lower voltage supply for the incandescent bulb – there is no such thing as a 1 – 9kV incandescent bulb. You might be able to run a second neon transformer in reverse to produce the required voltage, but it would probably violate your local electrical code.

    Edit: After a little reading, I see that neon sign transformers are not just simple step-up transformers – don’t try to use one in reverse unless you know exactly what you are doing.

    And, as jack of some trades suggests, be VERY careful – he’s lucky to be alive. Running a separate AC supply for the incandescent bulb is the safest route. Pay particular attention to maintaining safe spacings relative to the high-voltage components.

    tap off the connection to mains power. don’t bother with the NST, its a bad idea. just splice into the cord that plugs into the wall.
